If you are interested in the prophecy that brought you here, you might also be interested in the rest of it. All of the entries in this blog are related to the prophecy of the Old Testament and from other cultures, and how they have affected our lives for thousands of years. Another issue covered is the likelihood of the realization of the complete fulfillment of the prophecy.

Atlantis Again?

“The Legend of the Keetoowah, as recalled in 1930 by Levi B. Gritts, a prominent member of the traditionalist Keetoowah Society, places them on islands in the Atlantic Ocean east of South America. Anthropologists have discovered that Cherokee basket and pottery styles resemble those of South American and Caribbean tribes, differing from other tribes of the southeast U.S.”

“Seventy tribes attacked them but, by the guidance of God, they were victorious. The last warrior of their attackers, Ner-du-er-gi, was on top of a mountain overlooking their camp in the deep valley below. This warrior saw a smoke arising from the camp which "extended up beyond Heaven". The smoke was divided into three parts and in that there was an eagle holding arrows. When the warrior and his followers saw this, he ordered them not to attack the Indians for they were God's people and powerful and if they attacked they would be destroyed.”

“When God created these people he gave them great, mysterious power to be used for the best interests of the people. They lived in large cities with tall buildings. Some wise men began to use their power different than was intended which troubled the people. God instructed them to take their white fire and move away from that place. Some went to Asia, some to India, and others to North America leaving the wise men behind. After they had gone to other countries, these large cities were destroyed when the ground sank and are now under the ocean. God turned to the people that came to America and gave them wisdom and guided them.” - Ken Martin, Tsalagi historian, tribal member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma

“The following legend of the KEETOOWAH people, which dates back to the beginning of time, has been passed orally by each generation. Upon the creation of the KEETOOWAH people, the Creator gave them mysterious powers and placed them in large settlement on an island located in the Atlantic Ocean. There were other tribes on the island which attacked the KEETOOWAH people, and the KEETOOWAHS were victorious. Another tribe watched the fierce fighting from a mountain top. The leader of the tribe watched the valley ascend toward the Heaven. The smoke divided into three paths midway in the ascension an eagle was seen holding three arrows in its claws. The leader asked his warriors if the smoke and eagle were visible to them and they replied they were. The tribal leader then told his warriors not to attack the KEETOOWAH people because they were the Creators people and they were very powerful. The tribe came down from the mountain and made friends with the KEETOOWAH people. In later years, some of the medicine men of the tribe became selfish and used their powers to harm their own people. The Creator gave the powers to the medicine men to be used in the best interest of all the people. Other tribal members prayed to the Creator for direction and the Creator heard their prayers. The instruction was to move their fire away from the island and the medicine men. After the departure, the island sank into the ocean.” - Chief John Ross, 1790-1866, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation 1828-1866

“There was heard a great noise above their heads, as if produced by fire. Then were men seen running, pushing each other, filled with despair; they wished to climb upon their houses, and the houses, tumbling down, fell to the ground; they wished to climb upon the trees, and the trees shook them off; they wished to enter into the grottoes (eaves), and the grottoes closed themselves before them. . . Water and fire contributed to the universal ruin at the time of the last great cataclysm which preceded the fourth creation." - The Mayan "Popol Vuh"

“Let me begin by observing first of all, that nine thousand was the sum of years which had elapsed since the war which was said to have taken place between those who dwelt outside the Pillars of Heracles and all who dwelt within them; this war I am going to describe. Of the combatants on the one side, the city of Athens was reported to have been the leader and to have fought out the war; the combatants on the other side were commanded by the kings of Atlantis, which, as was saying, was an island greater in extent than Libya and Asia, and when afterwards sunk by an earthquake, became an impassable barrier of mud to voyagers sailing from hence to any part of the ocean. The
progress of the history will unfold the various nations of barbarians and families of Hellenes which then existed, as they successively appear on the scene; but I must describe first of all Athenians of that day, and their enemies who fought with them, and then the respective powers and governments of the two kingdoms. Let us give the precedence to Athens.” – CRITIAS by Plato, 360 BC
translated by Benjamin Jowett, New York, C. Scribner's Sons, [1871]

“Many great and wonderful deeds are recorded of your state in our histories. But one of them exceeds all the rest in greatness and valour. For these histories tell of a mighty power which unprovoked made an expedition against the whole of Europe and Asia, and to which your city put an end. This power came forth out of the Atlantic Ocean, for in those days the Atlantic was navigable; and there was an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Heracles; the island was larger than Libya and Asia put together, and was the way to other islands, and from these you might pass to the whole of the opposite continent which surrounded the true ocean; for this sea which is within the Straits of Heracles is only a harbour, having a narrow entrance, but that other is a real sea, and the surrounding land may be most truly called a boundless continent. Now in this island of Atlantis there was a great and wonderful empire which had rule over the whole island and several others, and over parts of the continent, and, furthermore, the men of Atlantis had subjected the parts of Libya within the columns of Heracles as far as Egypt, and of Europe as far as Tyrrhenia. This vast power, gathered into one, endeavoured to subdue at a blow our country and yours and the whole of the region within the straits; and then, Solon, your country shone forth, in the excellence of her virtue and strength, among all mankind. She was pre-eminent in courage and military skill, and was the leader of the Hellenes. And when the rest fell off from her, being compelled to stand alone, after having undergone the very extremity of danger, she defeated and triumphed over the invaders, and preserved from slavery those who were not yet subjugated, and generously liberated all the rest of us who dwell within the pillars. But afterwards there occurred violent earthquakes and floods; and in a single day and night of misfortune all your warlike men in a body sank into the earth, and the island of Atlantis in like manner disappeared in the depths of the sea. For which reason the sea in those parts is impassable and impenetrable, because there is a shoal of mud in the way; and this was caused by the subsidence of the island.” – TIMAEUS by Plato, 360 BC
translated by Benjamin Jowett, New York, C. Scribner's Sons, [1871]

“Not knowing what to do, the people stopped paddling, opened the doors on top of their heads, and let themselves be guided. Almost immediately the water smoothed out, and they felt their rafts caught up in a gentle current. Before long they landed and joyfully jumped out upon a sandy shore. "The Fourth World!" they cried. "We have reached our place of emergence at last!"

“Soon all the others arrived and when they were gathered together, Sótuknang appeared before them. "Well, I see you are all here. This is good. This is the place I have prepared for you. Look now at the way you have come."

“Looking to the west and south, the people could see sticking out of the water the islands upon which they had rested.”

"They are the footprints of your journey," continued Sótuknang, "the tops of the high mountains of the Third World, which I destroyed. Now watch."

“As the people watched them, the closest one sank under the water, then the next, until all were gone, and they could see only water.”

"See," said Sótuknang, "I have washed away even the footprints of your emergence, the stepping-stones which I left for you. Down on the bottom of the sea lie all the proud cities, the flying pátuwvotas, and the worldly treasures corrupted with evil, and those people who found no time to sing praises to the Creator from the tops of their hills. But the day will come, if you preserve the memory and meaning of your emergence, when these stepping stones will emerge again to prove the truth you speak." – A Hopi Legend

Those are all stories of a major destructive event that happened so long ago that few people believe the stories as real. This story isn’t about whether or not it really happened. Who knows if it really happened? As the Hopi legend says, all evidence of it got buried at sea. The Old Testament speaks of a similar event, which we commonly call Noah’s Flood. There is no evidence of it either. Those stories do support the legend of some culture that was totally destroyed by the sea. We know for sure that the oceans of our world were substantially lower than they currently are.
Quite a lot of water was stored in glaciers around the world during the last great ice age. It’s hard to imagine an entire continent getting swallowed up by the ocean, but it could have happened. In fact, according to the legends, it happened in both the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans.

This is a chart of the earth’s average temperature, and snow accumulation for the last 20 thousand years. Scientists who were studying an ice core from the Greenland glacier determined it. It clearly shows us that Plato’s date of 11,500 years ago for the rising of the sea levels was very close to reality. A similar event occurred 3,000 years before that. Both events happened in a matter of a few years. The “sinking event” can easily be explained by looking at the “Snow Accumulation,” which is also an indication of the amount of rain that fell during the last major warming period. It rained like crazy, as described in the story of Noah. That and the melting glaciers brought the ocean levels up quite rapidly, as the next graph shows.

“Compilation of Vostok and EPICA Dome C CO2 concentrations (Petit et al., 1999; Siegenthaler et al., 2005) and δD as a proxy for local air temperature (Petit et al., 1999; EPICA community members 2004) and the changes in global sea level relative to the present level (Bintanja et al., 2005). To a first approximation, sea level changes reflect the volume of ocean water bound in continental ice sheets during the ice ages. CO2 minima were reached approximately when the sea level was at a minimum, hence, the extent of the continental ice sheets were at a maximum. Vice versa, highest CO2 levels were found during interglacials during the high stands of the sea level. The evolution of the local temperature (as deduced from δD) follows this overall picture and points to a strong coupling of the climate and the carbon cycle.” - The Alfred Wegener Institute
That chart shows that the ocean levels around the world began to rise quite dramatically at the end of the last ice age. The earth had been quite a bit cooler, and for some reason, it warmed rather quickly, melting most of the glaciers around the world. The next chart shows what causes the warming.

The bottom graph shows the dust that was in the air, the middle graph shows the CO2 that was present, and the top graph shows the temperature. You can easily see that dust and CO2 go hand in hand to create the warm climates. At some “critical temperature,” something happens, and the temperature of our planet plummets. Our scientific community is still debating what that “something” is. They know that it has to do with the ocean currents, which are caused by the heat of the tropics and the cold of the poles. They also know that as we lose the Arctic ice cover, that we lose a giant solar reflector. When we lose that “reflector,” we also lose the ocean currents, because the Arctic Ocean absorbs more heat from the sun. The result is that that the oceans basically die.

"This is the Seventh Sign: You will hear of the sea turning black, and many living things dying because of it." – White Feather, Hopi Bear Clan, 1958

There’s a common expression that people like to use when you mention anything to do with destruction that might happen. “It won’t happen in my life time.” The reason for that expression is also shown in those graphs. Our planet has enjoyed quite a long period of paradise. Our environment has been quite stable since the last warming period. You can see in that chart what just a little dip in the average temperature of our planet causes. We call it the “Little Ice Age.” You can also see that our planet’s temperature is quite capable of dropping a lot more than it did then. Something else you can see is why there is a “promise from God” that the world wouldn’t be destroyed again by water. That’s an easy promise to make, because it happens when most of the water of the oceans is locked up in ice.

Just last week, a team of scientists announced that the Arctic Ice will be gone during the summer months by the year 2012. We can easily predict then, that those who think “it won’t happen in my life time” are either going to die in the next five years, or they are simply wrong.

"The Arctic is screaming," said Mark Serreze, senior scientist at the government's snow and ice data center in Boulder, Colo.

"At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012, much faster than previous predictions." - Jay Zwally, NASA climate scientist

"The Arctic is often cited as the canary in the coal mine for climate warming," said Zwally, who as a teenager hauled coal. "Now as a sign of climate warming, the canary has died. It is time to start getting out of the coal mines."

What do you think will happen if the temperature of our planet plummets? For one thing, our crops are going to begin to fail. The poor will be hit the hardest, initially.

“When all food disappears, modern man will try to correct his mistake, the conditions he caused upon the earth through his inventions. He will try to achieve some kind of method to heal the wound, but this will not be possible when we reach the point of no return.” – Chief Dan Evehema, The Hopi Survival Kit

“For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.” Isaiah 15:6 KJV

“Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.” – Isaiah 50:2 KJV

The year 2012 is not a predicted year for the “end of the world.” There is no such thing as the end of the world. As you can see from the graphs presented, this has happened before, and we can’t blame humanity for the past occurrences. We know for certain that humanity is the culprit this time, and we also know that we are too late to prevent a drastic climate change from taking place. It’s just a matter of time.

This is also not a complete picture of the events ahead of humanity. It is merely one aspect of things to come.
One more thing might be of interest. Now that you know that the oceans were 125 meters lower than they currently are, you might be interested in this topographical map of the Atlantic Ocean. It shows a very likely location for the “Lost Continent of Atlantis;” only it wasn’t a “continent,” it was a series of islands, just like Plato said it was. Look at the depth of the “Azores Plateau.” According to this map, the Atlantic Ocean is a mere 200 meters deep there. It doesn’t take a scientist to figure out where Atlantis was.

Here is another picture of the Azores Plateau. The Dark Orange areas would have been above sea level 12,000 years ago. You can clearly see the inland seas that Plato described. It looks like the only thing he was wrong about was the size of Atlantis.

The next picture shows the islands of the Azores, which correspond to the orange section of the Azores Plateau. (If you look closely at the orange sections above, you can see the white outlines of the islands, which are shown below.)

About Me

My photo
Writing control code for automated machinery is my primary method of providing a life for myself. My primary interest isn’t in my professional job though, it is in writing about what I have learned when I applied a simple programming procedure to understanding the Bible. Writing “subroutines,” is a way to store code outside of the main program, or “book,” as you would do it if you applied the procedure to writing a novel, or prophecy.
